Studies on the Early Detection of Gastric malignancy

Abstract
According to a recent report of Odell, et al. the ribonuclease(RNAse) activity in vaginal fluid is closely related to the development of uterine malignancies.
In present study, enzymatic activity of the RNAse in gastric juice from five nonspecific, eight gastricr olcer and seven gastric cancer patients were measured for comparative purpose.
RNAse activity of gastric juice were 0.21¡¾009 O. D. /mg, 0.12¡¾0.12 O. D/ mg and 0. 16¡¾0.09 O. D. /mg in gastric cancer patients; thus the RNAse activity appeared to be slightly decreased in ulcer and cancer patients, however, the statistical analysis of the results indicated nonsignificant in these limited groups
Further investigations are needed to find out a significance of RNAse activity for early detection of stomach malignancy; measuring RNAse activity off tumor tissue as well as the gastric juice under various intragastric conditions are necessary in more cases for this study.
